The Best Christmas gift

I wrote this story for my school's story competition, for their newsletter! I hope you enjoy it!!

Abdullah sat on the windowsill thinking of his father, tears sliding down his cheeks. “I’m so sorry Baba,” He whispered. But as he looked out over the town, and all its Christmas trees and lights, an idea struck him. He leapt up, grabbed a piece of paper and pen, and started to write.

Dear Mr. Christmas,

I don’t know if you ever travel to Syria, but could you go to the house with the orange tree and the blue door, in Aleppo, and find a gold watch? It belonged to my father, who died. I needed to keep it safe, and I couldn’t, and you are the only one who can help me.

Abdullah

It was Christmas day. Abdullah was getting up when he saw a package on his bed. He reached for it excitedly and tore it open.  There, in the wrapping, was his father’s watch, and underneath it, a letter.

Dear Abdullah,

I traveled to your home in Syria, and found this watch, and also this photo.

Mr. Christmas

Abdullah stared at the photo. It was of him and his Father, by the orange tree.
