Pompeii
Pompeii
Blinding lights, flashing and burning,
Scolding heat, a wave, crashing
Churning waves, thick and molten,
Sparks spraying, glowing and glistening,
Houses screaming, fire licking,
Cattle running from a sight that's sickening,
Birds crying, fleeing with trepidation,
Bare feet padding, running with desperation,
A town falling, crumbling into black,
Streets seared with blood and ash,
Stray cats, melting away,
A fiery element, eating everything
People sobbing, screaming, shouting,
For lost ones, now bones and ashes
Crowds of people and animals alike,
Spluttering for breath,
Hands trembling, a lust for safety,
Now at a distance,
Casting last glances,
A ruined Pompeii,
A heartbreaking doomsday
