A Sweet Dream
4:35 in the blackened morning,
Everyone else is snoring,
I am awake, sweat pouring,
Is it late at night? Or early in the morning?
My eyes so sleepy, they’re burning,
But no matter, I can't stop tossing and turning,
Is it too much to ask for a sweet dream?
Because life seems so simple when I'm asleep,
But right now I'm a wakened heap,
6:55 and the sunlight is peeping,
Wide awake, still not sleeping,
Scary thoughts inside my head, monsters creeping,
Only a certain amount of sheep a girl can count,
Energy draining like my bank account,
Cluttered thoughts like a line for a discount,
Is it too much to ask for a sweet dream?
Because life seems so simple when I'm asleep,
But right now I'm a wakened heap,
6:59; Minutes later, but it feels like a lifetime,
Wanting to sleep so bad, It feels like a crime,
Most of all, listening out for the clocks dime,
Thoughts flying around, making me brain-dead,
Like regretting that one stupid thing I said,
Feeling drowsy, my hands supporting my head,
Is it too much to ask for a sweet dream?
Because life seems so simple when I'm asleep,
But right now I'm a sleepless heap,
8:39, hoping my coffee helps me with the rebound,
And hoping that maybe one day sleep will be found,
So I stop feeling as If I'm drowned,
Thinking about my tiring night session,
Wondering ways to make me feel a bit more freshened,
But most of all, asking one question....
Is it too much to ask for a sweet dream?
Because life seems so simple when I'm asleep,
But right now I'm a sleepless heap,
Ah that's awesome!! I love the line about your bank account 😂
